Hi
We just wanted to share our pictures of Flat Mail Stanley at our National PCC Day event. He is pictured here (both front and back poses) along with myself, Bob Salvas of Cathedral Corporation, current Industry Co-Chair of the Providence RI PCC.
I have to honestly say that this was possibly the best Natl PCC Day event I have ever attended and I have been in this industry since 1980 (I like to think I started at a very young age).
What made our event so good? Well, it was a combined effort first of all- four GOLD PCCs were involved- SOUTHEAST MASS PCC, GREATER BOSTON PCC, CENTRAL MASS PCC and of course, Providence PCC.
Three major goals/objectives were hit:
1. Postal info- the marketing video, the broadcast and our USPS executive speaker, Mary Anne Gibbons, were all to-the-point and shared vital and interesting information – stuff we wanted to hear –it was short and interesting…IMPORTANT STUFF for our industry.
2. Industry info- some good cutting edge technical people talked about the future of the USPS and the connecting of the digital world to the hard copy world. It was not overly long or overly technical- again, it was short and interesting…IMPORTANT STUFF for our industry.
3. Lastly, we made a concerted effort to make this year’s National PCC Day FUN! These are trying times for our industry and the USPS – basically we all need a little cheer and laughter in our lives right now. We accomplished that by 1.bringing FLAT MAIL STANLEY (thank you to whoever came up with him) 2.having a guest dressed in 1600 clothing (from Plymouth Plantation) talk about how mail was moved in the time of the Pilgrams and 3.we had a special guest speaker and award presenter – national comic and humorist Jimmy Tingle, who was hysterical (so we were both HISTORICAL and HYSTERICAL!).
It was a well attended event (around 150 people or so compared to around 100 last year) and almost everyone said it was the best NATL PCC DAY they had ever attended.
Thanks has to go out to the USPS, both local and national as well as all the hard-working industry people who worked on the planning committee. This one will be hard to top.
I hope to see you in April at the NPF in Orlando.
